Alison Muir - Psychologist
Alison has lived on the Sunshine Coast since 1991. She moved into private practice in the hinterland initially before relocating to Noosa where she has lived and worked since 1996. Having 'apprenticed' in various government and non-government positions she gathered an extensive range of experiences and skills which she then creatively wove into her private consulting work.
In the course of her working life, she have had the opportunity to work with a broad range of people varying in age from six through to 80 years of age and experiencing varying degrees of psychological pain. She has worked in child, adolescent and adult inpatient and outpatient facilities, child protection services, vocational rehabilitation services, management consulting programs and disability services, as well as private consulting practice.
Alison has a great passion for the work that she does; a reality that is evident to those who choose to engage her on their journey to wholeness. Compassionate, wise, practical and humorous are words that have been used to describe her. Enjoying the process of change can facilitate the process of change, so be prepared to laugh through the tears.
As a psychologist, Alison has found it critical to explore the mind/body connection in therapeutic interaction. She has enjoyed working with practitioners from other modalities when the interface between her approach and theirs has supported the client in achieving balance, insight and change. Respecting the diversity of approaches that lead to real and healthy change is fundamental to Alison's practice. Hence the inception of the Noosa Health Mind-Body Therapies Clinic.
